The Biographical Portal (Biographie-Portal) is a transnational joint index to historical and biographical reference works in Europe.

Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz (HLS) / Dictionnaire historique de la Suisse (DHS) / Dizionario storico della Svizzera (DSS) (Historical Dictionary of Switzerland, 13 vol., 1997-2014),

The Biographical Portal (Biographie-Portal) is a joint project of the Bavarian State Library (Bayerische Staatsbibliothek), the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Historische Kommission bei der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften), the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften) and the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland (Historisches Lexikon der Schweiz).

Since 2011 the Huygens Instituut voor Nederlandse Geschiedenis at the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetschapen (Den Haag) / Biografisch Portaal van Nederland,
the Slovenska akademija znanosti in umetnosti (Ljubljana) and the Znanstvenoraziskovalni center Slovenske akademije znanosti in umetnosti (Ljubljana) / Slovenski biografski leksikon,
the Institut für Sächsische Geschichte und Volkskunde (Dresden) / Sächsische Biografie,
the Landesbibliothekszentrum Rheinland-Pfalz (Koblenz) / Rheinland-Pfälzische Personendatenbank (RPPD),
the LWL-Institut für westfälische Regionalgeschichte (Münster) / Internet-Portal Westfälische Geschichte,
and the Musikwissenschaft at Department Kunstwissenschaften at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München / Bayerisches Musikerlexikon Online (BMLO) joint the cooperative project.
